End: Wednesday, May 13, 202609:00 PM

Location: Unitarian Church 949 49th Avenue W, Vancouver, BC v5z2t1 CA

Pack the house for an inspiring evening highlighting the global links connecting Indigenous and Palestinian resistance. Don't miss the chance to hear from out-of-town speakers from the Gitxsan nation!

WITH:

  • Shaylynn Sampson, Gitxsan land defender and Lax’yip Firekeeper from the Lax Gibuu (wolf clan) and Wilp Spookxw.
  • Gina Mowatt, Lax Seel of Gitanmaax from the house of Luutkudziiwus and Xsimwitjinn, Gitxsan Nation
  • χʷəy̓χʷiq̓tən, Audrey Siegl, a Musqueam matriarch, cultural worker and warrior.
  • Rawan Ramini, a Palestinian filmmaker and organizer
  • A local Palestinian organizer and teacher (who prefers not to be publicly listed)
  • Performance by JB the First Lady: Indigenous hip-hop and spoken word artist and youth educator

The same billionaire-owned investment companies hoping to profit from real estate deals in devastated Gaza are also behind major "Projects of National Interest" in BC. Top of the list are LNG Canada Phase 2 in Kitimat and the Ksi Lisims fracked gas/Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline.

These disastrous schemes do not have the consent of Gitanyow and Gitxsan Hereditary leaders. They strongly oppose the fracked gas industry invading their homelands, just as Palestinians reject imperial land grabbing by Israel and the Trump administration. Fighting climate catastrophe and opposing fascism starts by standing WITH Indigenous land defenders. The land's survival is our survival. Don't allow BC's and Canada's politicians to subsidize MAGA oligarchs setting the planet on fire.

As these billionaires profit from destroying Indigenous land and lives around the globe, join us to find out how you can show up, refuse Empire's atrocities, and support Indigenous resistance from Gaza to Gitxsan territory.

Event notes:

This event is free, but we will be collecting funds for Lax’yip Firekeepers, "a Gitxsan youth-led organization committed to protecting our homelands, revitalizing our culture, and uplifting all youth living on the Gitxsan Lax’yip."
