In a time where the working class are once again coming under attack, we must come together as progressives to fight for Workers Justice. The income inequality in our country is only growing. Protecting our union brothers and sisters must be a part of the solution.
Please join us this Thursday, June 25th at 6:00pm EST for a panel discussion on strengthening the working class, empowering unions, the need for a truly liveable wage across Vermont and the country, and fighting for stronger labor protections such a Card Check and paid family and medical leave
We will be joined by
Julie Roberts is the founding director and professor in the Linguistics Program at the University of Vermont. She is also the president of United Academics the faculty union and a former president of the UVM Faculty Senate. She has lived in Vermont and taught at UVM since 1994, and she studies the Vermont accent.
Steve Williamson is a Seattle-based labor leader. He began as a union apprentice bricklayer in 1982 and cut his teeth in his local union's 1987 bricklayers strike. Steve led the Martin Luther King County Labor Council, AFL-CIO from 2000 - 2006. Working with the SEIU, Teamsters, Machinists and UFCW, Steve focused his later work on uniting labor and community on issues such as immigration reform and climate justice. He is married to Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal.
Linda Olson - She is also the former president of the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Federation and the current Vice President of Higher Education for the American Federation of Teachers Vermont. She has been a leader in advocating for more appropriations for public higher education in Vermont and lower tuition for Vermont students.
