The Pilgrims: Our First Undocumented Immigrants

Start: Sunday, August 17, 202501:00 PM

End: Sunday, August 17, 202503:00 PM

We are horrified by the repeated ICE raids where masked law enforcement officers are abducting those who MAGA claim to be undocumented off of our streets and from our workplaces, courthouses, and fields, and exiling them without due process to nations that they never knew.

Now, more than ever, we need to remember that our own Pilgrim Fathers were also undocumented immigrants. They made no immigration or visa application to the Wampanoag Nation, on whose land they arrived.

There’s nowhere in the world more fitting than Plymouth, the city they departed from, and the Mayflower Steps, to remind our fellow Americans of that fact. We are a nation of those who arrived many centuries previously across the Bering Strait, and those immigrants who arrived much more recently.

Join us next to the Mayflower Steps as we peacefully assemble to recognise those human beings taken by ICE and detained by DHS. We will be there for two hours from 1pm on Sunday 17 August 2025.

What to bring: your own signs, water, sunscreen, and waterproofs/umbrella for our famous unpredictable weather.

Afterwards we will head to a nearby cafe to socialize before heading home.
