Transit can take you anywhere - even to the stars!
As part of Transit Month 2026, Transbay Coalition is organising a transit-enabled visit to the Chabot Space & Science Center for a free telescope viewing on Friday, Sept 11. We'll meet at Fruitvale BART at 7:30pm and ride the AC Transit Line 31 bus up to the observatory. We'll then gather up and take the bus back to Fruitvale by 10:20pm.
About the telescope viewing:
Every Friday and Saturday night, Chabot astronomers host a free telescope viewing from Chabot's three historic telescopes. The observatory deck offers breathtaking views 1,500 feet above the Bay, while the telescopes offer a unique way to experience the awe and wonder of the Universe. Learn more about the telescopes here.
The service to Chabot Space and Science Center “Line 31”. Line 31 will operate every 30 minutes between Bay Farm Island, Eastern Alameda (Park St), Fruitvale Ave, Fruitvale BART, and the Dimond District. All trips between roughly 5:30 AM and 7 PM will start and end at Chabot Space and Science Center. Trips after 7 PM until 10 PM will end at Fruitvale and MacArthur Blvd.
