Unleash Our Future

From Asthma Alley to the Hudson Valley, New Yorkers believe we all deserve the kind of future we’d be proud to pass on to the next generation. We believe it so hard that for the last 4 years, thousands of us have risen up to fight for the nation’s biggest climate and green jobs bill to make it happen.
Now, the Build Public Renewables Act is on the brink of passing.
But one person stands in the way: Governor Kathy Hochul. To protect the for-profit corporations who have kept New York stuck at just 4% wind and solar energy and blocked every climate bill for four years, she’s pushing a sabotaged version of the bill instead.
This isn’t some small difference. This is removing the strongest green union labor language ever seen, plans to clean up pollution in Black and brown neighborhoods, measures to keep the leadership doing it accountable, and a mandate to build that will determine whether we might build public renewables, or that we will.
To get this far, we filled the streets, put our bodies on the line, make 5000 calls in two days, and even got the Build Public Renewables Act trending #1 in New York twice.
Do Hochul and her fossil fuel backers want to stop us? Let them try. Because on Thursday, we’re heading to Albany to make our demand up close: it’s time to pass the real BPRA, and UNLEASH OUR FUTURE.
