Join Fossil Free California & allies in the labor and environmental movements for a mobilization to Unrig California--eliminating a massive corporate tax break and funding California's environmental, health, and social programs!
California's "Water's Edge" tax election allows multinational corporations to hide their profits in overseas tax shelters. Oil and gas companies--and their allies in the Reagan administration--pushed this policy on California in the 1980s. It now costs us an estimated $3-4 billion a year in lost tax revenue.
AB 1790 (Connolly) would eliminate the Water's Edge election and require corporations to pay their fair share of taxes in California. With an extra $4 billion a year, California can fund key programs facing devastating cuts under the Trump administration--including climate, habitat protection, and public health work.
On March 11, join us for an Unrig California campaign kickoff rally on the West Steps of the Capitol at 9:45 am. If you're able, stay for lobby visits with legislators from 12 pm to 4 pm that afternoon.
