What happens when ordinary people take on billion-dollar industries?
Join us for free, monthly virtual screenings of VS. GOLIATH—a powerful, award-winning new documentary series following everyday people across the United States as they stand up to the fossil fuel industry and fight for the future of their communities.
VS. GOLIATH tells stories of courage and resistance from the frontlines of the climate crisis. Each month, we'll screen one episode and hear directly from the people living these stories.
Screenings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month, July through October. The first screening, July 7th at 8PM-9:15 ET / 5PM-6:15 PT will show VS GOLIATH: Cancer Alley, followed by a Q&A moderated by Bill McKibben and featuring activists from the episode.
What motivates a special education teacher and grandmother to fight back against the continent’s biggest plastics plant? A mission from God.
Sharon Lavigne, 70, has lived in St. James, Louisiana all her life, and she’s watched it turn from the lush and productive farmland of her youth into one of the most polluted places in the country, now known as “Cancer Alley.” When another huge petrochemical plant is announced for St. James, God tells Sharon to fight back. Follow Sharon and her daughter, Sharmyra, as they wrestle with how to build a better future for St. James.
Sharon Lavigne, Shamyra Lavigne-Davey, and Darryl Malek-Wiley (of the Sierra Club Louisiana) will join Bill McKibben for the post-screening discussion, and take audience questions.
Registered attendees will receive a private screening link to watch the film, and a Zoom Webinar to gather for the conversation.
