We are all disturbed to see the MAGA regime trying to whitewash our past so they can control our future. Trump wants to keep the promise of America only for wealthy, white men like him by disappearing Black and brown Americans, rolling back our civil rights and freedom to vote, and taking away birthright citizenship.
As we approach the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it's important to recognize that the current struggle for our rights is not new, and in fact, has a long history.
To recognize the resistance leaders in our past and celebrate the progress we have seen, Indivisible Highlands and Beyond invites you to a special free event on Saturday, June 27th at Theatre N in downtown Wilmington. We will view Voices of a People's History of the United States, a 90-minute film in which actors and musicians bring to life the words and music of 20 great rebels, dissenters, and visionaries from our past. After the film, there will be a lively 30-minute group discussion of the film and its relevance to our current work.
You are not alone. You are part of this struggle. Please join us to celebrate the progress we have made, and commit to continue the work to ensure liberty and equality for All Of U.S.
Doors open at 2:00. The film starts promptly at 2:30 so please plan to arrive early so you can talk with fellow attendees. Concessions will not be open, so feel free to bring whatever refreshments you like.
