Purpose: Volunteers are needed to help us fight back competing vegetation at a reforestation project area along the Henry Fork River. Hundreds of hardwood and fruit trees were planted 2 years ago and we want to give the seedlings the best chance at survival by giving them plenty of room to grow. This property is owned by Foothills Conservancy of NC and is known as the Possum Rock River Preserve.

Plan: We will meet in the parking area and get started after a brief safety talk. Volunteer tasks include mowing, weed eating, trimming vines from tree tubes, straightening stakes, picking up litter, etc.

Prepare: Please wear long sleeves and long pants with close toed shoes. We will be working in tall weeds and in direct sunlight so we want everyone to stay safe! Water, snacks, gloves, and protective eyewear will be provided.
