Wake County Commissioners just announced that they are holding a public hearing on the proposed combination of WakeMed and Atrium Health during their regular meeting at 2pm on August 17.

Our community needs to come together now to strategize and get organized so we are prepared for this urgent moment when the County Commissioners ask to hear from from members of the public about the WakeMed takeover proposal.  

The proposed WakeMed-Atrium Health deal has sparked an important conversation across Wake County about the future of our community's hospital.

At our recent town hall, more than 200 people came together to ask questions about the proposal and share concerns about what this takeover could mean for affordability, local control, transparency, and the future of healthcare in our community.

Now it's time to take the next step.

Join us for the first meeting of the Wake County Patients Union Local as we continue building a community of patients who are committed to protecting accessible, accountable healthcare.

We'll provide an overview of where things stand, discuss what we know (and what we still don't know), hear from one another about how these decisions affect our community, and make plans for the weeks ahead as Wake County Commissioners continue considering the proposal.
