Make Noise at Noon! Pots & Pans protest at the Governor's Mansion

Start: Friday, May 01, 202012:00 PM

End: Friday, May 01, 2020 1:00 PM

Unemployment rates are rising. COVID 19 cases are not due to "peak" until early May. Even then, people will continue to become infected until vaccinations are available. Widespread testing is not occurring, and people can spread the virus without even having symptoms. It is unjust and short-sighted to turn people out of their housing during a pandemic, especially when they’ve lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Even now, despite many courts being closed, evictions continue in Arkansas. The Governor must to order this to stop.

Join us in this national day of action as we gather at Noon on Friday May 1 at the Governor's Mansion and bang pots and pans from the safety of our cars to wake Asa up!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1. Arrive at the Governors Mansion by car
2. Put a sign in your window (Suggestion: No Evictions! Cancel Rent!)
3. Bring some pots and pans from your kitchen
4. Make some noise to wake the Governor up!
5. Record pictures and video of yourself for social media - use the hashtags #NoCovidEvictions #CancelRent and #ArkansasRentersUnited

Our Demands:
1. Stop all evictions for the duration of The COVID-19 pandemic
2. Cancel rent and mortgage payments for 6 months, with no debt accrued and no back pay required.
3. Enforce rent and mortgage forgiveness for missed payments starting from March.
4. Financial assistance for landlords who cancel rent through a relief fund
5. Suspend utility payments and shutoffs
6. House all unsheltered people to protect their health and safety, and public health at-large.
