Across the country, union educators are joining with parents, students, and neighbors to win the climate-safe, fully-funded, community schools we deserve. Our new report with Building Power Resource Center (BPRC), Bargaining for Green Schools, Good Jobs, and Bright Futures, shares case studies and best practices for union members organizing to win “common good” climate demands in their contracts.
Unions’ bargaining power can extend beyond worker protections for their members; they can negotiate with their employers to advocate for their larger community. Minimizing police presence in schools, investing in local job training programs, and refusing to collaborate with ICE are all examples of demands that unions have supported at the bargaining table.
Join We Build Progress, Bargaining for the Common Good, Labor Network for Sustainability, and Building Power Resource Center on Nov 19 at 3:00 ET/2:00 CT for our briefing “Bargaining for Green Schools, Good Jobs, and Bright Futures.” Learn how unions can collaborate with community partners to mobilize for clean energy and build collective power for stronger schools, hospitals, and more.
