This year the 8th edition of #Expodefensa will be held in Bogotá, Colombia, the second largest arms fair in Latin America. #Expodefensa brings together more than 200 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, who come to showcase weaponry and military technology that are used to deepen violence and repression.

In this 1-hour webinar, we will hear a critical perspective on Colombia's arms trade with different countries around the world. It will be a space for reflection and education, to discuss educational and action opportunities to reject this arms fair.

The event will take place:

When: Thursday, October 26

We will have the following panelists:

Panelists:

Eitay Mack (Israel): Lawyer and human rights activist. He represents Palestinians who are victims of Israeli terrorism, as well as Palestinian and Israeli activists and human rights groups in relation to violence and violations of international law by Israel's security forces and settlers. He works to expose and stop Israeli defense exports to repressive regimes used for human rights violations, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

César Jaramillo (Canada): Cesar Jaramillo is the executive director at Project Ploughshares. His focus areas include nuclear disarmament, the protection of civilians in armed conflict, emerging military technologies and conventional weapons controls. Tadamun Antimili Spokesperson: Tadamun Antimili is a group of people who develop activism in two directions: solidarity with Palestine and antimilitarism in Colombia. These two areas inspire the collective's name: Tadamun means solidarity in Arabic, and Antimili is an abbreviation for antimilitarist. They are united by all struggles against oppression.

Facilitator: Natalia García Cortés, sociologist and specialist in Feminist and Gender Studies. She works at War Resisters' International in the Right to Refuse to Kill program and the Against the Militarization of Youth program.
