This webinar builds on the momentum of the Gambia Youth Peace Forum on Killer Robots held in May 2025, which engaged youth, policymakers, and civil society in dialogue on banning autonomous weapons. It seeks to extend the conversation globally, highlighting the role of young people in shaping ethical responses to artificial intelligence (AI) militarization and promoting a culture of peace.
The advancement of AI and its integration into military systems pose ethical, humanitarian, and security challenges. Autonomous weapons known as killer robots threaten to undermine international peace and security. As the world marks the International Day of Peace, the Gambia chapter of World BEYOND War is amplifying youth voices on this global issue, connecting local perspectives from The Gambia with the broader international movement for disarmament and peacebuilding.

Nyaling Sonko
Nyaling Sonko is the Co-Coordinator of the World BEYOND War Gambia Chapter and a teacher by profession. She holds a diploma in Leadership and Conflict Resolution, along with a certificate in Peace and Conflict Resolution. She is a passionate advocate for peace, women’s leadership, child rights and climate action. Her work has connected her with several youth and advocacy networks, including the African Youth Leadership Hub, She Is Girl Foundation and SANYEPD. Her resilience and dedication drive her efforts in building a more just and peaceful society.

Gabriel Coutinho
Gabriel Coutinho is a researcher in International Relations and a recent graduate from Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. His work focuses on AI governance, emerging technologies, and international security. Gabriel has conducted research on Brazil’s national AI strategy, the militarisation of AI, and the role of civil society in global disarmament efforts. He is a member of the Stop Killer Robots Youth Network, a monitor at the Research Centre on International Politics, Security and Defence (NPSeD/UFSC) and a researcher at AI+ Artificial Intelligence and Disruptive Technologies (University of São Paulo — USP).

Omar Mboob
Omar Mboob is the Coordinator of the World BEYOND War chapter in The Gambia. He is a passionate Youth leader, Award-winning Activist, development practitioner with over nine years of experience in volunteerism, youth engagement, and community service. He is a strong advocate for peace, climate justice, leadership, and social change across The Gambia and beyond.Omar serves as the National Coordinator for the African Youth Leadership Hub (AYLH) – The Gambia, where he leads grassroots initiatives focused on empowering young people through leadership training, nonviolence education, and sustainable development. In his role with World BEYOND War, he spearheads the national “Stop Killer Robots” campaign, raising awareness about the ethical risks of autonomous weapons and promoting peace-focused technologies. He is also the Founder of the Gambia Youth Leadership Activist Advocacy (GYLAA), a platform dedicated to advancing youth advocacy, peacebuilding, and inclusive participation in decision-making processes.

Al Mytty
Al Mytty has been involved in World BEYOND War since 2015. He was the founder and coordinator of the World BEYOND War chapter in central Florida. When he moved to Illinois, he led the creation of Illinois for a World BEYOND War, a statewide chapter. He is a frequent speaker on the myths of war, and alternatives to war and he is active with several other peace groups.

Guy Feugap
Guy Feugap is Africa Organizer for World BEYOND War. He is a secondary school teacher, writer, and peace activist, based in Cameroon. He has long worked to educate youths for peace and non-violence. His work has put young girls in particular at the heart of crisis resolution and awareness raising on several issues in their communities. He joined WILPF (Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom) in 2014 and founded the Cameroon Chapter of World BEYOND War in 2020.
