Discover how Prairie councils are embedding climate action into everyday decision-making, even amid budget constraints and shifting political priorities.
Hear directly from Prairie leaders, including Mayor Andrew Knack and Councillor Keren Tang of Edmonton, Mayor Corrie DiManno of Banff and former Calgary Councillor Druh Farrell, as they share how climate considerations are being integrated into council processes, such as environmental or climate impact reviews in council reports and carbon budgeting. We will highlight and share practical examples, lessons learned, and insights into assessing what climate-forward governance can realistically look like when resources are tight and climate ambition is under pressure.
The call is hosted by Climate Caucus, a national network of over 1,000 current and former Mayors and Councillors that offers free resources, expert guidance, and a space to connect with fellow local elected officials. This event is part of our Prairies Chapter, which provides a confidential, collaborative space for local leaders in the region to discuss core climate policies important to their communities.
