Join us to call our elected officials in Oregon, California & Washington to DEMAND masks stay in healthcare, long-term care, prisons, and all high-risk settings!
The three West Coast states are making a coordinated attack by trying to end the final mask mandates in each state on April 3. Together, let's make our demand loud and clear: masks must stay!
Join this solidarity phone bank hosted by the West Coast COVID-Safety Alliance to call officials in your state and support your West Coast neighbors doing the same.
We'll provide a phone banking how-to, scripts for each state, and phone numbers. Feel free to come for as long or short as you can! We will have an initial group chat to ground ourselves in what is happening and then split into three breakout rooms for each state. Live captions will be available, and please email us with any other access needs.
Ending these mask mandates is unacceptable and will create more spread, more death, and more disablement making it even harder for West Coasters to safely access health care, for people in long term care facilities to be safe, and for incarcerated people to be safer from Covid.
- Washington: mask mandate in healthcare, long-term care & prisons set to end April 3
- Oregon: mask mandate in healthcare, long-term care & correctional clinics set to end April 3
- California: mask mandate in healthcare, long-term care, prisons, homeless shelters, emergency centers, and warming & cooling centers set to end April 3; vaccination mandate for healthcare workers also set to end; isolation time set to be reduced from 10 days to 5 days
This is an attack on everyone who seeks medical care, resides in long-term care, is incarcerated, is houseless, and depends on heating/cooling centers amidst ongoing climate disaster – and the hundreds of thousands of people who work in these settings.
