A plug-in solar bill is coming to Oregon.
Curious about plug-in solar?
Join us for WHAT IS PLUG-IN SOLAR and Why it Matters to Oregon, a webinar on Tuesday, January 20th, 6 – 6:45 PM.
We’ll interview community advocate and plug-in solar user, Juno Suarez, and learn how plug-in solar works, how much energy it can generate (even in cloudy areas), safety considerations, and more.

Plug-in solar (aka balcony solar) is an affordable, portable way to offset your energy bills by generating your own clean energy even if you:
· rent your home
· can’t afford rooftop solar
· have a shady or unsuitable roof for rooftop panels
Plug-in solar is a big deal in Germany. And a bill passed unanimously in Utah last year. Many more states (CA, VT, MD, NH, VA, NY, PA) are introducing bills in 2026.
Oregon is next, with a bill coming in February, sponsored by Representative Sarah Finger McDonald from Corvallis. This bill will mean that an estimated 70% of households who can’t install rooftop solar, can potentially use plug-in solar and save on electricity bills.
Join us at the webinar and write your legislator this month to voice your support to make plug-in solar accessible in Oregon.
Here are email templates you can use when you write your legislator. And here's where you can find contact information for that legislator.
The webinar will also be recorded and posted on the Third Act Oregon website.
