What's happening in the FDR Meadows? Walk with us and find out!
Start: Saturday, December 20, 2025•10:00 AM
End: Saturday, December 20, 2025•12:00 PM
Join us on Saturday, December 20, for the year's final walk through 100 acres of vibrant meadows and peaceful woodlands in FDR Park, guided by organizers from Save The Meadows. We have some exciting new updates, and hot cocoa to share!
We'll walk and talk as we take an easy hike through the meadows in the western half of FDR Park. Philadelphia's Parks & Rec department (PPR) and its partner the Fairmount Park Conservancy have already destroyed 75 acres of the Meadows. But 100 acres remain!
These meadows and woodlands are home to native and non-native species, threatened red-bellied cooter to bald eagles, and thousands of trees, some of them "heritage trees." PPR and FPC threaten to bulldoze nearly the entire area and install 32 acres of toxic turf as well as roads and parking lots — but they can be stopped!
