On Saturday, April 11, walk and talk with organizers from Save The Meadows, as we take an easy hike through the western half of South Philadelphia's FDR Park.

Philadelphia's Parks & Rec department and its partner the Fairmount Park Conservancy have destroyed 75 acres of the Meadows. But 100 acres of vibrant meadows and peaceful woodlands remain to be saved, and that's what we'll explore. If you've never visited, you'll be amazed at the natural beauty right in your backyard.

These meadows and woodlands are home to native and non-native species, from threatened red-bellied cooter to bald eagles, and thousands of trees, including giant heritage trees. Join us for a lovely stroll through 100 acres reclaimed by nature and learn about efforts to protect this ecologically vital area. See what's at stake and how you can help — there's still so much left to save.

The paths are uneven in some places and may be muddy, depending on weather. Waterproof boots strongly recommended. Please contact us if you have questions about accessibility.
