As part of Coastal Cleanup Month 2025, Humboldt Waterkeeper & Explore North Coast will be teaming up to host a cleanup in Wigi (Humboldt) bay via Kayak on Saturday, September 6th. In coordination with the Wiyot Tribe, they'll be collecting trash around Tuluwat Island. Join the Humboldt Waterkeeper & Explore North Coast for the first weekend of Coastal Cleanup Month events and help them collect trash from Wigi Bay!

The cleanup will last from 12-3pm. Please arrive by 11:30 to prepare for launching by noon. Two groups will coordinate collecting trash around Tuluwat Island, with boat support from Hog Island Oyster Farm. It is free to join, but you will need to bring your own kayak or canoe and a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) with attached whistle is required. Immersion gear is optional, but please do not wear cotton. Please dress with proper footwear and pants to get muddy. Cleanup supplies will be provided! Please bring water and sun protection. Please have lunch before you launch (or bring your own). Explore North Coast will provide some snacks for on-the-water and to enjoy following the clean-up.

All volunteers will have a chance to enter a weekly raffle with the NEC to win a locally donated prize!

Paper waivers for the California Coastal Commission will be available at all cleanup events, but if you'd like to sign the digital waiver instead, please use the links below and provide a screenshot of the completed waiver confirmation to the site captain when arriving at the cleanup event.
