Will You Allow Mayor Kim to Run Scared of Keir Starmer on Child Poverty?
Start: Thursday, October 24, 2024•12:30 PM
End: Thursday, October 24, 2024•02:00 PM
Mayor Kim McGuinness makes no secret of her love of running!
But we can’t let her run away from addressing child poverty in our community! On Thursday at 12:30pm, join your neighbours for the next action and demand real change—no more growing up poor! Kim’s boss, Keir Starmer, has thrown out colleagues for speaking up about ending the benefit cap. It’s time to make sure Kim doesn’t have a place to run and hide when it comes to child poverty!
Come dressed for a fun run & be part of an action that demands real solutions!
Nowhere to Run and Hide! No more talking shops! Just action!
The Message:
We're asking Mayor Kim McGuinness and Newcastle City Council to:
- Publically advocate abolishing the situation whereby children live under NRPF, which denies families essential support they need to survive.
- Publically advocate ending the Two-Child Benefit Cap, so every child, no matter their family size, gets the support they deserve.
- Push central government to make these changes immediately.
- Sit down with Food & Solidarity to talk real solutions for the people impacted.
These policies punish children. It’s unjust, and your community won’t stand for it.
