Women helping Houston after Harvey

Start: Saturday, November 04, 2017 9:00 AM

End: Saturday, November 04, 2017 1:00 PM

Houston welcomes the "Sisters of 77" commemorating the 1977 National Women's Conference. We know you aren't simply interested in examining or discussing the past, you're highly motivated to take action now to make the future better. In collaboration with the University of Houston School of Public History, the Houston Women's March is coordinating three ways you can help Houstonians recover from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey:

  • Health care and health insurance
  • Children
  • Women restarting their lives

History teaches us that disasters tend to be most disastrous for people who are already vulnerable economically. While Harvey flooded rich and poor neighborhoods alike, the aftermath is worse for those with fewer resources. And it's worse on women and children, particularly in non-white communities.

If you're traveling from out of town, we hope you can arrive in Houston by Friday, Nov 3, and join us for a weekend of community events, including this opportunity Saturday morning, November 4, to help those Houstonians who could use a few hours with you.

If you live here in Houston, please join us! This is a great opportunity to help fellow Houstonians while also getting to know women from across the nation. Simply RSVP, and then please let us know if you can volunteer transportation for out of town guests.

After you RSVP, we'll stay in touch to connect you with the volunteer opportunity best suited for your needs and interests.

Thank you for lending a helping hand (or ear, or word). You are greatly appreciated.
