We'll discuss the
current experiences of women as jazz educators, students and professional
musicians during the Covid pandemic,
and we'll gain insight into how to create more
inclusive environment for women as contributors to jazz.

About Lauren Henderson: Described as "somewhere between a comforting whisper and a cogent declaration" by the New York Times, vocalist, composer, and Brontosaurus Records CEO Lauren Henderson uncovers the layers of her diverse background through music. Her musical interpretations and compositions paint stories reflecting journeys imposed through the African Diaspora in connection to Henderson's Panamanian, Montserratian, and vast Caribbean roots as they interplay with her North American upbringing.
About Emily Pecoraro: Brooklyn-based Emily Pecoraro is a woodwind doubler, educator, and Program Director for WIJO Mentors. She has twice been a chairholder for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, is a regular lead alto player for The Temptations and The Four Tops, and regularly performs in the Broadway and Jazz communities in New York.
About Roberta Piket: Downbeat Critics Poll winner Roberta Piket is a pianist, organist, composer and occasional vocalist who performs with the Billy Mintz quintet; saxophonist Virginia Mayhew’s quartet; drummer Victor Jones; and others. Her recent solo piano CD, Domestic Harmony (Thirteenth Note Records, 2019), features compositions written by her husband, the drummer Billy Mintz.
