Women of Color March and Rally FAQs
When and where does the march begin?
The march begins at 12:00PM in front of First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany, 405 Washington Ave. in Albany.
How far is the march?
The march is straight down Washington Ave to Townsend Park at the intersection of Washington and Henry Johnson Blvd.
Is this a Sister March to the Women's March? YES! This is the registered Sister March to the National Women's March and is being led by Capital District Women of Color Committee in partnership with various People of Color centered groups and organizations.
Who is allowed to march?
All are welcome to march for equity, equality and justice for all. Women of Color will lead the march and all others are welcome to join and follow and listen to the speakers at the rally and our call to action lifting up the voices of impacted people and calling for justice for all.
I heard there is a brunch before the march. How do I register?
There is a Women of Color Brunch 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. but pre-registration is mandatory due to limited space and the brunch is specifically for Women of Color. Women of Color can register at bit.ly/2019WoCBrunch
There will be additional training, workshops, discussion and actions in the upcoming weeks and months with the Resistance Committee, Capital District Women of Color Committee and other groups and organizations.
What are the parking options?
Due to the expected numbers of participants, most people are car pooling as well as parking at shopping centers along Central Ave. and taking CDTA public transportation the rest of the way in. (Central Ave and Albany/Schenectady) Area shopping centers on the bus line include West Gate Plaza, Hannaford, Shop Rite and, the one furthest away, Northway Shopping Center.
All on street parking is free on Saturdays on Washington Ave and Central Ave. There are also public parking lots near First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany and Townsend Park.
Empire State Plaza Parking is available as well public parking lots. Parking details will be emailed to all who register.
Are signs allowed? Are there any restrictions on the signs?
Yes! Signs are allowed and encourage. Sticks are not allowed on the signs.

All are messages of social, racial, economic and environmental justice and unity including but not limited to "End Mass Incarceration", "Schools, Not Jails", "Justice for Indigenous Women", "Justice for All", "End Environmental Racism", "Black Lives Matter", "LGBTQIA Justice Now", "Feminism is intersectional, one size does not fit all" and so much more!
