San Diego DSA will host a three part reading series focusing on both contemporary and historical works of feminist theory for Women’s History Month. This series will cover the development of feminist thought into Feminist Marxism, then explore some constructive critiques of feminist thought over the last several decades, and conclude with a dive into decolonial feminisms.
Join us at the City Heights Library from 11am-1pm on Saturday March 14!
In the first session of this reading series we will be covering some of the historical development of feminist theory through a lens of historical and dialectical materialism. In order to prepare for the discussion please read at least one of the following works:
-
Dialectic of Sex by Shulamith Firestone: Chapter 1, The Dialectic of Sex, pp. 1-14
-
Sister Outsider by Audrey Lorde: Chapter 12, Age, Race, Class, and Sex: Women Redefining Difference, pp. 114-123
-
Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici: Introduction, pp. 11-20
