This free online workshop will show you how to write effective news releases for the media.

Not all direct actions aim for or are suitable for the media. But if you are involved in actions with a media objective, our workshop will show you how to write a press release and manage press queries.

This workshop is appropriate for activists who want to do press releases for civil disobedience and activism.

Workshop objectives

Participation in this workshop will provide you with the knowledge to:

• write news releases of genuine interest to journalist;
• understand what makes a story;
• develop a journalistic writing style that's easy to read;
• write successful headlines and intros;
• use strong quotes to add value to your message.

To keep the workshop to two hours, we will focus on writing press releases rather than action messaging and design.
