ICE WATCH VERIFICATION TRAINING for YOUTH AGES 14-18

WHO:
Youth ages 14-18 interested in being trained to learn how to support the local immigrant community by accurately verifying ICE presence

WHAT:
A one-hour training provided by volunteers with Siembra NC. Siembra NC is a North Carolina-based grassroots organization founded in 2017 that focuses on defending our communities from abusive employers and landlords, ICE, and bad políticos. Siembra runs an ICE defense hotline that individuals across the state can call when they suspect ICE activity in their local community. The organization relies on ICE Watch Verifier volunteers for verification of ICE activity. Learn more at https://www.siembranc.org/

WHEN:
4:30-5:30 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Arrive by 4:20 pm to check in, please.

WHERE:
The Community Church of Chapel Hill at 106 Purefoy Rd in Chapel Hill

WHY:
As we see families, children, and schools being targeted by ICE regularly, and young people being at the forefront of resistance and dissent, we are aware that youth are autonomous beings who can do significant work in combating kidnappings by the state. Once trained, youth will have the skills to distinctly recognize and verify the presence of ICE and be educated on their rights in situations of ICE presence. Verified ICE sightings are disseminated to Siembra NC’s network of immigrant community members and rapid response volunteers, promoting greater safety for immigrant neighbors.

HOW:
Youth: please RSVP through this doodle poll - you are encouraged to use a made-up name for digital security, as we just want to get a sense of how many participants we will have for room set-up.

Parents/Carers: Youth are welcome to be dropped off, or parents/carers are welcome to hang out in a separate space at the church or attend a parallel ICE Verification training if interested. Parents/Carers, please use this doodle form to RSVP for the training.

All youth will be asked to sign in upon arrival with their name and a parent/carer’s name & phone number in case of emergency - all information will be shredded at the end of the training.
