📢 Youth Call to Action: Shape How Maine Uses $2 Million in Opioid Settlement Funds!
Want to make sure Maine schools and the Recovery Council spend opioid settlement dollars on real solutions that help students and communities? Here’s your chance.
🗓 Date: October 9, 2025
🕘 Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 Location: Augusta, Maine
👥 Who: Youth ages 13+
Join ME-RAP and the Maine Youth Leadership and Development Council for a full day of community organizing, advocacy, and direct action.
Right now, the Maine Recovery Council has $2 million in opioid settlement money set aside to help schools with prevention, treatment, recovery, and reducing the harm with substance use. The choices made with this money will affect our classrooms and our futures. Young people across Maine are coming together to make sure these dollars actually create safer, healthier, recovery-ready schools.
Join us to:
- Learn what the opioid settlement funds are and how they’re being spent.
- Make a list of priorities young people want to see this money be used for.
- Take real action by speaking up at the Maine Recovery Council.
💡 Why youth voices matter:
-
We see the impact of the opioid crisis every day in our schools and neighborhoods.
-
We know what supports students actually need—counselors, recovery-friendly spaces, peer programs, naloxone training, and more.
-
If we don’t speak up, others will decide for us.
This is our chance to lead. Together, we can demand that these funds go toward building safer, healthier, and recovery-ready schools. Join us to learn more about the opioid settlement funds, how they are being spent, what we can do about it, and then take action by testifying at the Maine Recovery Council.
👉 Be there. Be heard. Be the voice that shapes Maine’s future.
👉 All youth will be provided with a $50 stipend for their attendance.
