2025 - Opposition to AB 292
URGENT ACTION NEEDED
AB 292 will further harm the very people it seeks to protect, while diverting limited state resources that would be better spent on critical victim services
- Research shows that most of the women arrested for domestic violence are, in fact, victims of domestic violence who were acting in self-defense or in response to behavior that indicated violence was imminent.
California has only 104 domestic violence shelters. During 2021-2022, domestic violence shelters served 13,000 Californians but had to turn down another 15,000 requests for shelter.
We are all committed to preventing domestic violence, intervening to support victims, and taking steps to ensure real accountability.
Join us in urging the members of the Assembly Public Safety Committee to vote NO on AB 292
