Act Now to Protect Trans Youth! Stop HB1104
House Bill 1104 is a bill that fundamentally threatens the rights of transgender youth in Georgia. Initially designed to support student athletes, this legislation has been drastically altered to exclude transgender students from participating in sports teams that reflect their gender identity and from using the facilities where they feel safe.
This bill marks a significant setback in our fight for equality, aiming to sideline a vulnerable group of students under the guise of protecting others. By denying these young individuals the opportunity to engage in sports—a vital arena for learning teamwork, discipline, and hard work—HB 1104 strips them of the chance to experience growth and camaraderie on equal terms with their peers.
Moreover, forcing transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms that do not align with their gender identity exposes them to heightened risks of harassment and assault, compounding the discrimination they already face daily.
We can't not standby and watch this happen. It's more than a bill; The safety of our youth is at stake.
