Apply for a 2026 grant from the Anne Feeney Hellraiser Fund
Application Deadline is August 24, 2026. Grantees will be announced on Labor Day: September 7, 2026
Update for 2026: Fascism is rising in the United States. And movements for justice and liberation are in the fight of our lives. The need for music and art that bolsters activism and organizing has never been more urgent. That's why this year the Anne Feeney Hellraiser Fund will be providing two additional grants, to a total of five artists. Please apply even if you have applied before (and feel free to re-submit the same application), and please donate to support the fund so that we have the resources we need to meet the moment.
Anne Feeney was “the best labor singer in North America,” according
to
Utah Phillips, “a fearless and formidable force,” according to Rage
Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, and “rocked the house”
according to Dar Williams. She was also a mentor who generously gave
her time and support to help jump-start the careers of many young and
up-and-coming songwriters, activists, and artists who carry on the
tradition of using music and art as a tool and a weapon in support of
movements for social, economic, and environmental justice. She
especially supported young women, queer and trans artists, working
class artists and artists of color by sharing her wisdom, her
contacts, and the stage. The Anne Feeney Hell Raiser Fund is a fund
fiscally sponsored by the Labor Heritage Foundation that will carry on
Anne’s work of constantly passing the torch and lifting up the voices
of emerging activist artists. Each year the fund will provide small
grants to artists carrying forward Anne Feeney’s rabble rousing
legacy. Grants between $500 - 1,000 will be used to support a
recording project, subsidize a tour, or support in the creation of
original music, theater, mural or other artwork that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the
comfortable. Winners will also receive the right to put "hellraiser" on
their business card, just as Anne Feeney did throughout her career. Fill out the form and include up to three links to your work (a video, recordings, visual art, website, social media, etc) in order to apply for the fund.
Previous recipients of Anne Feeney Hellraiser Memorial Fund grants include Neffy (who went on to win NPR's Tiny Desk Contest!), labor-rapper Mickey O’Brien, and singer/songwriter Crys Mathews.

Recipients of the award will be responsible for any and all taxes associated with receipt of funds. The Anne Feeney Hellraiser Fund is managed by Anne's daughter, Amy Sue Berlin, Anne's long time friend and touring partner, Evan Greer, and the Labor Heritage Foundation.
