Every two years, the Young Democrats of America (YDA) hosts a convention to bring together hundreds of young democrats for trainings, strategic planning, networking and the election of the YDA officers for the next biennium. The 2023 convention will take place June 18-21 in Las Vegas, NV.

Thanks to our state's ongoing participation in YDA, Alabama will have the opportunity to send delegates to the 2023 convention. We're excited about the opportunity to bring our members to Las Vegas so that they can network, learn and share best practices with Young Democrats from chapters from around the country.

Interested in being an Alabama Delegate?  

Interested applicants must complete and submit an application by Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 8pm to be considered for a spot in the delegation. All applicants must be Democrats over the age of 16 and under the age of 36 at the time of convention.

Persons selected to be delegates and alternates are expected to attend all plenary sessions and assigned committee/caucus meetings. We will do our best to make sure you are assigned to attend the sessions you are most interested in.

If we have more people apply to serve as delegates than we have slots available, delegates will be selected according to our Delegate Selection Plan.  All applicants will be notified if they have been selected as a delegate or alternate by May 21, 2023.

In order to help make this trip accessible to our members, AYD is raising funds and is working to budget the cost of lodging. Please note that you will be responsible to cover the cost of your transportation (flight). We are working diligently to cover the cost of your lodging.
