Green Students Committee Co-Convenor (x1)

The role is reserved for someone who does not self-define as a man.

The Green Students Committee leads the Young Greens work on student issues. They work with the Executive to support our Young Green University Societies across England and Wales, providing guidance and general support to group organisers. The Green Students Committee is responsible for building links with the national student movement, including the NUS and students' unions.

The Co-Convenor is responsible for co-chairing the Committee and supporting the work of the Non-Portfolio Officers. As a member of the Young Greens Executive Committee, the Co-Convenors provide a crucial link between the two committees as well as ensuring that student voices are strongly represented.

Since restarting in 2020 our Green Students Committee has ensured that the Young Greens have been vocal and active on student issues. They've organised events for left-wing activists considering standing in their students' union elections and started the Building Group Power events that bring together our group organisers. They've organised a Young Greens presence at the NUS Student Strike as well as supporting Comms on student focused issues. We're looking for someone to join the committee as Co-Convenor and help build on this work.

Executive Committee Liberation Officers (x3)

Ensuring that the team leading the political work of the Young Greens is inclusive, and that liberation remains at the heart of everything we do, our liberation officers work to promote the voices and priorities of the communities they represent.

Working alongside their respective Young Greens liberation groups, our liberation officers have led on work raising awareness of key campaigns and events, and fighting for liberation and inclusivity, often in collaboration with Green party liberation groups. You’ll also work closely with our Equality & Diversity officer on the Executive Committee.

The liberation officer roles were introduced to the Executive Committee last year for the first time, so there is still plenty of scope to develop and shape them further! Our movement, and the Young Greens, are very white and so by offering these roles for People of Colour we want to give space to those who are not well-represented and support them to develop as activists.

Democracy and Accountability Committee (DAC) - Member (x1)

DAC, the Democracy and Accountability Committee, is the body responsible for internal structures and the Constitution. We run our democracy and make sure all Young Greens can have their say, whilst also holding our elected representatives to account.

We keep in regular contact and meet fairly regularly through the year. Busier periods occur in the run-up to Annual Convention and for other democracy events throughout the year. The role can be quite technical, but we have fun and will be on hand to support you throughout the year.

We’re a great team and we really encourage you to submit an application. If you want to join us, apply today. Depending on the number of candidates, we may conduct informal interviews before making a decision.

Timeline

Co-option applications will close on the 19th August at 23:59. The Executive Committee will conduct interviews for the Executive role on the week of the 22nd August. If you have any question please contact the Co-Chairs via co-chairs@younggreens.org.uk

or contact DAC via alldac@younggreens.org.uk
