From extended workdays to extra duties to covering classes during planning periods … educators who were already stretched thin are digging deep in their reserves to keep going.

What you may not know is that you can team up with your coworkers to change your working conditions in your school and district.

Here are a couple of things you can immediately do:

1. Don't go it alone. Reach out to others in your building to support and strategize! If you are a member and would like help hosting a building meeting, let us know by completing this form. Members & non-members alike are also welcome to join educators from across the region on Thursday, October 7th at 7:00 pm to discuss what we're facing and to share ideas and solutions. Just complete the form attached.

2. Share your story. Educators across the state have been raising awareness about the conditions we are facing and improving conditions in their communities as a result. Complete the form attached and let us know if you would like to share your story too!
   

3. Get help. If you are a member and you are facing individual employment issues involving contracts, grievances, discipline, evaluations, benefits, and working conditions, you can speak with the NCAE Advocacy Center by clicking here. If you are not a member, we encourage
   you to join NCAE and to become a voice for public education. However, we can only assist with new issues that occur after you have been a member for 30 days. One person alone has an uphill battle, but together, you and your colleagues can change your working conditions and your students’ learning conditions for the better.
