SFI Voting Ambassadors are members of the military family community who volunteer their time to register voters in their personal network, share ways to overcome the voting challenges specific to our community (like voting absentee and overseas), and encourage decision makers to make it easier for our votes to count. SFI is a non-partisan organization and does not affiliate with candidates or political parties.
By becoming a 2025 Voting Ambassador, you will be part of a fun and energized team volunteering together to ensure EVERYONE who wants to vote in our community can. All it takes is a minimum of 2 hours of your time every month, the interest to meet new people, talk to strangers and a passion to improve your community.
Despite record-high voter turnout in the 2020 election, only 47% of our military community voted (that's 27% lower than our civilian counterparts!*). Every time our right to vote is suppressed, these attacks are - as they have always been - about who deserves right to influence the decisions that impact our day to day lives.
We know the right to vote in the United States was not originally granted to Black Americans, Indigenous people, women, or non-landing-owning men. It took decades of demonstrations and activism led by Black Americans, in the face of repression and violence - at times fatal - for People of Color to achieve the same right to participate in democracy that their white counterparts were granted.
The military consists of nearly 50% members of color, and 92% of active-duty spouses are women. By all of us working together to improve our diverse community’s access to the polls - we are building the political power to hold our representatives accountable to us, and to move policy solutions that improve the safety, dignity, and quality of life for all military families.
