Boston DSA Organizer Training Series Interest Form

The following are organizer trainings that we have currently run or are in the process of developing, open to members and non-members alike.

  • Strategic Campaigns: This training explores the process of how to best choose and execute campaigns that will build long-term power for our movement. Time and resources are limited, so we have to be intentional about our work.
  • Structured Organizing Conversations (1:1s/Onboarding): Individual conversations are the building blocks of our movement. We talk to one another to inspire each other to action, to have a sense of agency in a world where we otherwise feel powerless, and to take care of one another. One-on-one conversations are essential to labor and tenant organizing as well as onboarding and activation in any volunteer-run space. In this training, you will learn and practice how to structure and have these conversations!
  • Effective Coalition Work: This training focuses on why we should build and join multiracial, working-class coalitions, the basics of what a coalition is and is not, and how groups can participate in coalitions.
  • Group Facilitation: Empowering a group to be collectively creative, accountable to one another, as well as to work through conflict and discomfort, build consensus, and do work together can be very difficult! This training will help to prepare you to do these things as a facilitator while being fully accountable to a group.
  • Organizing Coordination & Capacity Building: Building grassroots power is about a whole lot more than taking individual actions. We need to create space, systems, and communication practices that invite and activate one another to do more. We need to ensure involvement in our movement is caring, mutually accountable, and scalable. We must always have asks and follow-up plans. This training is directed at organizers with some experience who are interested in implementing campaign and base-building operations.
