Build Clean Energy Now

On Sun Day - September 21, 2025 - people across the country are coming together to rally for clean energy. Solar, wind, and batteries are now the cheapest and cleanest way to power our world, but outdated rules are getting in the way. Together we can bring clean energy solutions to every community.

Sign our petition to urge Mayors and local leaders to do everything they can to speed up the energy transition!

To: Mayors, City Councils, County Commissioners, and Local Executives:

Implement policies that remove barriers to clean energy access for all residents and businesses.

America stands at a crossroads in our energy future. While our nation has led the world in clean energy innovation and deployment for decades, recent federal actions threaten to undermine the progress that has made energy more affordable, created hundreds of thousands of jobs, and strengthened our economic competitiveness.

We call on our local elected officials to embrace clean energy as the foundation for economic prosperity, energy independence, and a healthier future for everyone.

Clean energy sources like wind and solar are now the cheapest forms of electricity available. They bring down energy and electricity costs, improve reliability, increase consumer choice, reduce pollution, and strengthen energy independence. But excessive regulations, slow-moving utilities, and outdated permitting processes are blocking families and businesses from accessing the benefits of clean energy technology.

To expand access to families and businesses who want to install rooftop, small-scale plug-in, and community solar projects, we call on you to commit to these essential policies:

  • Automate solar permitting by using new software like Solar APP+ or Symbium, which helps eliminate unnecessary delays and bring down costs.

  • Prohibit excessive fees and unnecessary restrictions on solar installations by local governments or Homeowner Associations (HOAs).

  • Eliminate permitting requirements for small-scale, plug-in solar installations, often called ‘balcony solar,’ a safe and accessible option for many families.

  • Fast-track approval for community solar projects that serve renters, low-income families, and others who can’t install rooftop solar.

Towns and cities across the country are already reaping the benefits of streamlined solar policies, but for too many of us, outdated regulations and red tape are making energy more expensive and making it harder for families to take control of their energy bills. Without urgent reforms, millions of Americans will lose out on the benefits of installing clean energy technologies that will save them money, reduce pollution, and address climate change risks.
