Make 2 Calls To Pass Packaging Reduction & The Bigger Better Bottle Bill in NYS!

Call to stop NYS from missing the mark on Extended Producer Responsibility

Time is running out! Please make two critical phone calls today to urge your state legislators to pass two critical bills to reduce plastic pollution, packaging waste, climate emissions & toxic chemicals and give recycling a big boost. Hurry! The legislative session ends on June 8.

1. Dial the Senate Switchboard at (518) 455-2800 and ask to be connected to your Senator’s office. If you’re not sure who your Senator is, click here to look them up now.

When someone picks up, you can use this short script:

“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Senator to please co-sponsor two important bills and work to pass them this session. The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Act (S 4246) and the Bigger Better Bottle Bill (S. 237) are the key to reducing packaging waste, cutting climate change emissions, boosting recycling, and protecting environmental justice communities. I hope the Senator will co-sponsor both bills and make passing them a top priority this session. Senator Harckham is the lead sponsor on the Packaging Reduction Bill and Senator May is the lead sponsor on the Bigger Better Bottle Bill if the Senator has any questions.”

Thank the person for taking your call. They may ask you to verify your address, etc.

2. Then hang up and dial the Assembly Switchboard at 518-455-4100 and ask to be connected to your Assemblymember’s office. If you’re not sure who your Assemblymember is, click here to look them up.

“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Assemblymember to please co-sponsor two important bills and work to pass them this session. The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (A5322) and the Bigger Better Bottle Bill (A6353) are the key to reducing packaging waste, cutting climate change emissions, boosting recycling, reducing air pollution, and protecting environmental justice communities. I hope the Assemblymember will co-sponsor both bills and make passing them a top priority. Assemblymember Glick is the lead sponsor for both bills if the Assemblymember has any questions.”

3. Once you've hung up, please take a moment to fill out the form on the right to let us know how your calls went -- a very important step!

Thank you so much for helping to stem the tide of plastic pollution in New York State.
