Click here to find the phone number for your state representative and senator. Make the call using the script below, and then fill out the form on the right side of this page to let us know whether or not they are supporting our students and public colleges and universities.

The following is a phone script you can use to call your legislators:

Please feel free to modify it but be sure to mention the bill by name: the Cherish Act.

Hello, I am trying to reach Representative/Senator _______ to talk about the Cherish Act and the Cherish Year 1 Budget Campaign to support students and public higher education in Massachusetts.

Once connected to the appropriate legislator or staff member:

Hi, my name is __________ and I live in ________ (name of your community).

I am calling to ask you to support the Cherish Year 1 Budget Campaign and to contact the chairs of the Joint Committee on Higher Education to express your support for the Cherish Act (S.741/H.1214).

The Cherish Act will restore the $600 million in state funds for public colleges that have been cut since 2001, and the Cherish Year 1 Budget Campaign would invest $120 million (the first year of a five-year phase-in) through the FY2021 budget. Passing this legislation and budget campaign would the state’s commitment to fully funding our public colleges and universities.

Thank you — and I hope you will support the Cherish Act and the Cherish Year 1 Budget for Higher Ed.

Once you have spoken to one of your legislators, don’t forget to call the other! All residents are represented by both a representative and a senator.
