Call Your NYS Legislators To Cut Single-Use Packaging
(4).png)
Please make two critical phone calls today to urge your state legislators to put people over plastic by co-sponsoring The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (S1464/A1749), a critical bill to reduce plastic pollution, packaging waste, and climate emissions; ban 17 of the most toxic chemicals used in packaging, and give recycling a big boost.
1. Dial the Senate Switchboard at (518) 455-2800 and ask to be connected to your Senator’s office. If you’re not sure who your Senator is, click here to look them up.
When someone picks up, you can use this short script:
“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Senator to please support and co-sponsor The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (S1464) to reduce plastic packaging, climate change emissions, and toxic chemicals. I am very against the weak alternative EPR bill, Senate bill 5062 and I urge the Senator to support Senator Harckham's excellent bill, S1464.”
Thank the person for taking your call. They may ask you to verify your address, etc.
2. Then hang up and dial the Assembly Switchboard at 518-455-4100 and ask to be connected to your Assemblymember’s office. If you’re not sure who your Assemblymember is, click here to look them up.
"When someone picks up, you can use this short script: “Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Assemblymember to please support and co-sponsor The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Act (Assembly bill 1749) to reduce plastic packaging, climate change emissions, and toxic chemicals. I am very opposed to the weak alternative EPR bill, Assembly bill 6191 and I urge the Assemblymember to support Assemblymember Glick's excellent bill, A1749.”
3. Once you've hung up, please take a moment to fill out the form on the right to let us know how your calls went -- a very important step!
Thank you so much for helping to stem the tide of plastic pollution in New York State.
