Call to Reject Rex (and the rest of Trump's Cabinet)
Trump and Republican leaders in the Senate are trying to ram through confirmation hearings on four nominees today. ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson is probably the highest profile , but certainly not the only troublesome nominee.
To stop Rex or any of these nominees, we need to every Democrat in the Senate and at least 3 Republicans to vote against them.
For Tillerson, in particular, there's good news: Some Republicans like McCain, Graham, and Rubio have voiced hesitations. We can win, but we need to put pressure on these Senators.
Call your Senators TODAY: Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and tell your Senators to oppose the nomination of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, and ALL of Trump's racist, climate-denying cabinet nominees. If you're feeling feisty, let them know you're part of a massive national resistance movement that's committed to shutting down business as usual
I am calling tell Sen XXX to vote against Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State. Tillerson is exactly the wrong choice for America. He is compromised by his deals with Russia, Iran and other foreign governments to drill for oil at any cost. He had funded climate denial and lied about it. As the CEO of Exxon, he showed that he puts profits above human rights or anything else. Tillerson’s nomination would undermine the United States’ reputation abroad and spell doom for our planet. You must oppose Tillerson's nomination, and indeed ALL Trump's nominations that deny basic science and action on climate change.
UPDATE: We've heard reports that the switchboard is periodically overwhelmed by calls and staff can’t take more messages or Senators voicemails are full. That’s a good sign, but please keep trying to get through. Here are a few alternate ways to try and call:
- Greenpeace has a Tillerson-specific call tool set up to direct folks to their senators. With a short prompt at the beginning. 1-855-636-8150 (or text REX to 877877).
- Sierra Club has a similar tool set up - 1-888-430-7789
- 350 has a call tool that will list the DC office number of your Senators once you tell them your email and where you live.
- You can look up Your Senators local district offices and call there - they keep count and will report to the Senator in DC.
