Bike Durham is working with neighbors along the Mangum and Roxboro Streets corridor, calling for safety and accessibility improvements during and upcoming NCDOT resurfacing project. The 2020 Move Durham Study recommended converting these streets back to two-way travel, to slow driving speeds making them safe for all users. In addition, residents north of Markham Avenue and south of Lakewood Avenue have long been asking for changes to the street design to slow traffic speeds and to make crossing the street and riding a bike safe for everyone. There are way too many crashes of all types on this stretch of road and this is our once-in-15-year opportunity to make this road safer and accessible to all while it is being resurfaced.

Bike Durham is calling for the NCDOT to uphold their Vision Zero and Complete Streets policies while repaving these streets in Durham to build for safety and accessibility for all.

We need your voice to hold the City and NCDOT accountable to make this corridor safe.

Complete the form - we will send you monthly updates including a date for an upcoming organizing meeting.
