Carson We Need You! No "Diamond Gateway Without Our Say!"

Right now, Phillips 66 and the City of Carson are fast-tracking a development project called the “Diamond Gateway Project” without community input and voice.

We know that Phillips 66 profited and polluted for over a century, threatening our families with asthma, cancer, and death and making the site into a toxic mess. It’s simple: Phillips 66 needs to pay to clean it up – but this development could let them off the hook, while continuing to pollute our communities.

The proposed “Diamond Gateway” at the Carson Phillips 66 site would include six new, massive warehouses – which could house anything from Amazon fulfillment centers, polluting data centers, or even an ICE detention center. The impact on the environment and our health and the interruption to daily life and lack of inclusion of community benefits is extremely concerning!

Join us from 6 PM- 8PM on April 29 at the Carson Event Center in-person to tell the city:

1. Carson, where’s our taskforce? We deserve real community input on the cleanup and redevelopment process.

2.. Phillips 66 profited and polluted for 100 + years. How will the Diamond Gateway Project ensure they are cleaning up the toxic mess?

3. Invest in good jobs and healthy development for all Carson – not polluting Amazon Warehouses, ICE detention sites, or data centers.

How we got here:

In September of last year, the City promised to jumpstart a taskforce to include our neighbors’ feedback and make sure that real cleanup happens at the refinery site..But since September, we’ve heard zip about the taskforce, even as development goes forward.

Refining has stopped, but Phillips 66 remains in the driver’s seat. The oil giant has hired development firm Deca and Catellus to pitch a sunny vision of the Carson refinery ground.

We won’t allow P66 to fast-track its “Diamond Gateway” without the refinery’s neighbors at the table.

Carson WE NEED YOU! Join APEN at the upcoming public scoping meeting to share your concerns and lift up the vision for Carson we all deserve. P66 made this toxic mess. We need them to clean it up. And the refinery’s neighbors should decide what happens next.

SIGN-UP to join APEN on Wednesday, April 29th at 6pm to say “No “Diamond Gateway Without Our Say!”
