FICC is hosting Creating Resilience: Art Therapy Workshop Series for Mental Health in a Changing Climate in 2025 in partnership with Art + Soul Clinic's Brenda Echeverry, a Dorchester-based expressive arts therapist and teaching artist! This 5-part series is designed to support our mental health in the face of a changing climate. Explore guided hands-on activities like collaging, black-out poetry, and other forms of creative expression to cultivate emotional strength, mindfulness, and community connection. Join us to nurture your well-being, build resilience, and create a brighter future together!
No previous art experience is required to attend. Light food and refreshments will be served. Locations & more info TBA when the specific dates get closer.
Relevant information for the May 10th Nature Walk & Ephemeral Art workshop:
Meeting location: Our home base will be the picnic tables on Schoolmaster Hill Picnic Area. We will meet at 1pm on Circuit Road next to the black sign labeled "Schoolmaster Hill" (see Google maps for exact location we're referring to) and take a short (~2 min) walk up to the picnic tables approximately 5 mins later.
Accessibility: Accessible via paved paths and has some shade.
Bathrooms: There is a portable bathroom at this location. The Golf Course Clubhouse (1 Circuit Drive) has indoor bathrooms
Getting there: The closest parking lot is across the street at the Franklin Zoo parking lot (Pier Point Road). The Golf Course Clubhouse (1 Circuit Drive) also has parking, but it is about 0.5 miles away from the picnic tables. The 16, 32, 34, 36, and 38 buses all stop nearby as well at Circuit Dr @ Glen Ln (0.2 miles from Schoolmaster Hill).
