Defund Police Email/Twitter Action!

This is the last week for city council to amend the budget!

We stand with Amistad Law Project and organizations across the city calling for 120 million to be cut from the police budget and redistributed to libraries, rec centers, homeless services, the arts and so many other programs facing huge budget cuts. We know these programs actually help our communities and Public Safety means investing in our city programs and our people,

Contact Mayor Kenney and City Council President Monday June 15th and tell them to "#DefundThePolice of 120 million in order to #FundOurCommunities."

Dear Mayor Kenney and Councilmember Darrell Clarke,

I’m writing to express my support for and solidarity with organizations across the city who are demanding 120 million cut from the police budget and redistributed to community programs that will actually keep us safe and support me and my neighbors.

Libraries, Rec Centers and the Arts are essential to our communities. Homeless services and public health are absolutely crucial during this pandemic and economic crisis. While your administration has a lot of work to do to address police brutality against black Philadelphians, one simple first step is rolling back the budget increases your administration has given them since you’ve been in office.

Our budget is a moral document and a political one and I’m writing to demand that you allocate funding based on the values of supporting our communities and investing in them instead of criminalizing them while starving them of resources.

Sincerely,

Name
