Congress and the Department of Justice must use the full force of the federal government to back up the power of the congressional subpoenas issued by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6th Trump driven insurrection and violent attack on the Capitol.

That’s why it was so critical that Congress voted to find Steve Bannon in criminal contempt of Congress and the DOJ followed through with a grand jury indictment that could result in up to 2 years in prison if -- when -- he’s convicted.

This kind of accountability is exactly what America needs if we’re going to protect our Democracy and stop the next coup attempt before it happens -- but it’s not enough.

It can’t be just one and done.

Congress must hold everyone who refuses to honor a Congressional subpoena in contempt, especially the highest profile perpetrators responsible for spreading Trump’s big lie and rallying the base to march on the Capitol.
