Successive presidents and the State of Texas have assaulted our immigrant community in Houston through deportation and hate. Sign this petition to demand local leaders in Houston work to protect our fellow immigrant workers, neighbors, and community members against attacks by the federal and state governments.

Billions of dollars each year are allocated to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to surveil, detain, and deport hundreds of thousands of immigrants each year. Meanwhile, politicians of both parties animate fear to divide our communities and weaken the working class.

Although local politicians have paid lip service to our immigrant communities, they have not implemented policy changes to protect them. Our local leaders of the City of Houston, Harris County, and area school districts must take bold action to protect immigrants.

Firme esta petición para exigir que los lideres locales en Houston trabajen para proteger nuestros compañeros inmigrantes, vecinos y miembros de la comunidad frente a los ataques de los gobiernos federal y estatal.

Aunque algunos políticos locales han expresado su apoyo verbal a vuestras comunidades inmigrantes, no han implementado cambios reales en las políticas para protegerlas. Our Demands

1. Dedicating City budget funding to know your rights trainings and legal representation for immigrants

2. Instructing all city agencies and departments to accept the Harris County Enhanced Library Card as valid photo identification

3. Complete and accountable data transparency documenting instances of Houston Police Department and any other City agencies working with, providing data to, or collaborating with ICE

4. Houston Police Department and City of Houston must end existing agreements that proactively dedicate city resources to ICE (e.g. traffic stops, emergencies, schools, etc.)

5. For the Houston Police Department to not call ICE at sensitive locations

6. Pass a resolution condemning Houston-headquartered Avelo Airlines for its deportation flight contract with ICE
