Tell Congress: Free Kilmar Abrego Garcia and Uphold the Rule of Law

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a Maryland resident, a husband, father, and community member who was illegally deported to El Salvador in violation of a court order protecting him from removal.

His deportation wasn’t just cruel, it was unconstitutional. The Trump administration used the Alien Enemies Act, a wartime law from 1798, to bypass the judicial system and remove Kilmar without due process.

The courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, have ruled his deportation unlawful and ordered his return. But Trump’s DOJ has refused to comply.

Last week, Senator Chris Van Hollen flew to El Salvador to demand action. He was blocked by armed soldiers from entering the prison where Kilmar was being held, but ultimately succeeded in meeting Kilmar face-to-face. This was the first confirmed contact with Kilmar since his abduction. He is alive. But he is still in custody, still being held unlawfully.

This is not just a legal and moral failure. It is a constitutional crisis.

Add your name to demand your members of Congress join Senator Van Hollen in calling for the immediate release and return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States.
