End Worker Misclassification!

In Illinois and around the country, businesses often wrongly classify their employees in an effort to dodge paying their fair share of taxes and other state policies. The most common form of "employee misclassification" is when an employer classifies an employee as a "contractor" instead of as a full-time employee.

Here in Illinois, a recent study by the National Employment Law Project shows that 18% of Illinois employers misclassify workers and cost the state $400 million in annual tax revenue. It's an underhanded move that sticks Illinois tax-payers like you with the bill for their unscrupulous business practices.

Employee misclassification takes money out of our state coffers, which means less money for public services we rely on like public schools and infrastructure projects.

The Illinois Employee Classification Act was passed and intended to fight employee misclassification and make sure all businesses operating in Illinois pay their fair share of taxes. We need our state to enforce the laws that are on the books and support all working people.

Sign the petition now and tell us you support ending worker misclassification in Illinois.
