LGBT Rights Rally with Montgomery County Register of Wills Bruce Hanes and Mayor John!
It can be easy to forget now, but in 2013, same-sex marriage was still illegal in Pennsylvania. That’s when Montgomery County Register of Wills Bruce Hanes made history when he heroically defied state law and began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Obtaining the license was just one obstacle though — couples still needed to find an official willing to officiate the weddings. But John Fetterman stepped forward and announced that he would do what no other elected official in the state would: ignore the discriminatory state law and officiate same-sex weddings.
With only 13 days left before Election Day, Mayor John needs to rely on committed supporters like you to take a stand against injustice. To make sure our campaign’s voice is heard we’re asking supporters to take an "all hands on deck”"approach from here on out. Can Mayor John and Bruce count on you to attend this historic event? If so, please click here to RSVP. As always, feel free to extend this invitation to fellow supporters, friends, family members and neighbors.
